You always see me tweet about cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Some of you probably don’t find the necessity in practicing this habit, because you see it as tedious or simply insignificant. Cleansing, toning and moisturizing forms an integral part in how your skin looks. This, along with the right skin care product line, exercise, drinking water, a balanced diet and sleep grants you that RADIANT looking skin. This post is to remind about the importance of cleansing, toning and moisturizing; what it does and how to perform this daily ritual.

Cleansing

This is the first part, a procedure that can be done twice if you are wearing makeup. Product lines have pre-cleansers for those who wear makeup and want to avoid drying out the skin. Cleansing is essential because it removes traces of make-up; it removes surface dirt and pollution, and reduces congestion in the pores. This needs to be done with tepid water, avoid using water that is too hot or too cold. Use a cleanser recommended by your therapist for your skin type.

Cleansing

Toning

This is the second stage in the cleansing routine. Toning is necessary to ensure the complete removal of dirt from the skin and it can be done to remove your mask. It is important to note that there are cleansers that may require you not to use a toner. Cleansers that contain glycolic acids with a pH balance can be effectively removed using water. In this instance you may use water to tone if your product contains glycolic acid. If you find at times that your toner feels too strong, dampen your cotton wool to dilute the toner just a little bit.

Toning

Moisturizing

You want your skin to feel smooth and supple, right? You definitely need to moisturize! The skin needs to maintain an adequate moisture level. It is necessary to prevent further moisture loss that is contributed by the external and internal environment. This is achieved by using the appropriate moisturizer which conditions the skin making it appear softer and more supple. Moisturizers come in different forms for different skin types and conditions, apply your sunscreen every day. Some moisturizers contain SPF (Sun Protection factor) which is a huge plus!

I trust that we will all take this ritual serious, because we all deserve a beautiful and healthy skin tone!
